Joy French is originally from Missouri. After high school she took to the road with the international traveling show Up with People, not only singing and dancing but taking on speaking roles in Portuguese, a language she doesn’t speak. She performed with Mo-Trans while earning a degree in Spanish from the University of Montana, then moved on to earn an MFA in dance from the University of Colorado. She is the founder of Bare Bait Dance and teaches technique and Dance for the Camera at The University of Montana.
Allison Herther was raised in Aberdeen, SD and graduated from The University of Montana with a B.F.A. in Dance. She has had the opportunity to work with: Susan Marshall, Martin Keogh, Brian Gerke, and Steinunn Ketilsdottir. During the summer of 2012, Allison performed at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in MEAT, for the National American College Dance Festival. She recently premiered her evening-length work Tepid at Headwaters’ Underground Studio.
Kaitlin Kinsley was born and raised in New York and started dancing when she was five. She received a BA in Dance from The University of Montana. During her time there Kaitlin performed in numerous student and faculty-choreographed pieces, most notably Anya Cloud’s Breathless Zoo and Nicole Bradley Browning’s Cupcake, which was performed at the Northwest Regional American College Dance Festival. Kaitlin also performs with Bare Bait Dance and CoMotion Dance Project.
Katie McEwen grew up in Northwest Montana and earned a B.F.A. in choreography and performance from The University of Montana. While in school she performed in Brian Gerke and Steinnun Ketilsdottir’s MEAT, which was performed at The Kennedy Center as part of the National American College Dance Festival. Katie co-choreographed P’s and Q’s, which was chosen for the Gala Concert at the Northwest Regional American College Dance Festival. Katie recently completed a dance installation at The Artists’ Shop for which she collaborated with a photographer, videographer, costume designer, and music composer.
Elizabeth Pertis is a dancer and choreographer currently working with both Bare Bait Dance and Headwaters Dance Co. Elizabeth graduated from The University of Montana with a degree in Choreography and Performance. Along the way, she has danced in works by Sarah Gamblin, Eric Handman, and Lar Lubovich, and has participated in workshops with Ailey II, Martin Keogh, and David Dorfman. This is her second stint with Headwaters.
Lindsey Schwickert grew up in Whitefish, MT where she performed for several seasons with Kalispell’s Northwest Ballet Company and as a guest artist with the modern company Azure Vision. She earned a double degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders and in Dance from The University of Montana before joining Headwaters. She is putting her training in Entertainment Management to practice as a booking agent for Bare Bait Dance and Co-Motion Dance Company. Lindsey teaches ballet and creative movement in both private studios and through MoDe in Missoula public elementary and middle schools.
Jasmine Woods began studying ballet and tap at the age of three in Florida. Moving to Tennessee, Jasmine performed with Pointe West Dance Company followed by Go! Contemporary Dance Company. She then ventured on to Charleston, South Carolina where she danced for the Robert Ivey Ballet while studying dance and anthropology at the College of Charleston. She completed her B.A. in Liberal Studies at The University of Montana before joining Headwaters.
